Frangis started at BICC in November and works as a Researcher in various projects on Afghanistan. At the same time, she is Coordinator of the Afghanistan Program at the Academy in Exile, University of Duisburg-Essen.

She gained her PhD from the Political Science department at the Free University Berlin. She conducted research on the Afghan elites and the patrimonial networks, worked with GIZ, the German Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development on measures for good governance in Afghanistan. For the International Organization for Migration, she did research on the Afghan diaspora in the United States and Germany, and she worked on a report on the Afghan-German diaspora in Germany for GIZ. She is mainly interested in research on reconciliation and peacebuilding measures within nation-building processes and conflict-ridden societies. Before, she worked at the Aspen Institute Germany as a Program Office for the Middle East Program, as well as a research assistant and program coordinator at the Good Governance Afghanistan Program at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University Erfurt.
