Shahrazad received her first MA degree with distinction in Development and Governance from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany where she was the recipient of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarship. She earned her second MA also with distinction from the College of Europe in Bruges in EU Foreign Economic Relations with a focus on energy policy where she was the recipient of the European Commission Scholarship.

After initially working in economic policy research, Shahrazad got more hands-on work experience in development cooperation in Germany at the GIZ and later at a Brussels-based research institute where she focussed on Euro–Arab relations. Before joining BICC, she was based in Brussels, where she worked on energy affairs and was trained at the European Commission at the Mediterranean desk of the Directorate General for Energy. Shahrazad’s work focusses on energy transition in developing countries, particularly in Southern and Eastern Mediterranean countries as well as energy governance issues pertaining to Euro–Mediterranean relations.
