(Academic) education / CV:

Jürgen Brandsch joined BICC in Oktober 2018 where he is heading the project on SALW control. Before joining BICC, Jürgen was a researcher at the University of Mannheim, where he worked in the ERC-funded project on Repression and the Escalation of Violence (RATE) of Professor Sabine Carey. Within this project, he was mainly responsible for conducting field research in Georgia and data analysis on the perceptions of security.

Jürgen undertook his doctoral studies at the University of St Andrews on the effects of indiscriminate violence against civilians and worked for several years for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), primarily in the field of Peace and Security. Jürgen also holds a Diplom in Economics (University of Heidelberg) and MA in Political Science (University of Münster).
