As part of the senior management team, Jürgen Brandsch as Head of Advice and Scientific Transfer, is responsible for the strategic and conceptual development of the institute’s portfolio on policy advice and scientific transfer. Jointly with the Head of Research he leads efforts to interlink research and advice.

(Academic) education / CV:

Jürgen Brandsch is currently the Head of Advice and Scientific Transfer and a member of the senior management at BICC. He joined the institute in October 2018 as the head of the project on SALW control in Africa which he led until December 2020. Before joining BICC, Jürgen worked at the University of Mannheim, the University of St Andrews and for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Jürgen received his doctoral degree in International Relations from the University of St Andrews. In his dissertation he focused on the effects of indiscriminate violence against civilians in civil wars. Jürgen also holds a Diplom in Economics (University of Heidelberg) and MA in Political Science (University of Münster).
