(Academic) education / CV:

Saskia Boniello holds a MSc Degree in Defence, Development and Diplomacy from Durham University (United Kingdom) and a BA degree in Political Science with a minor in Law from Ludwig-Maximilians-University München. She has dedicated both of her dissertations to the topics of arms control and the concept of disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR). Furthermore, Saskia is interested in the nexus between security and development, post-conflict reconstruction and arms control.

Before joining BICC, Saskia has worked for various actors of international development cooperation, such as the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), with a focus on disaster risk management as well as peace and conflict.

At BICC, Saskia supports the implementation of a project on small arms and light weapons (SALW) control in Africa as Advisor.
