9th International South Sudan and Sudan Studies Conference

This international South Sudan and Sudan Studies Conference in Bonn, Germany (from 23 to 25 July 2012), proposes to examine the changing identities, economic and power relationships, and external interests that characterize Sudan and South Sudan as they enter a new era.

The Sudan Studies Association USA and the Sudan Studies Society UK have been organizing International Sudan Studies Conferences every three years for nearly three decades at changing venues. As before, they also have a say in the contents of this conference. This year, 2012, the Bonn International Center for Conversion (BICC) will organize the conference, which will take place in Bonn, Germany.
The city of Bonn as international science hub is a most suitable location to bring together scholars from South Sudan and Sudan for the first time after the separation. The sponsors of the conference are the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Research Foundation DFG and the Foundation International Dialogue of the Savings Bank in Bonn.

The final deadline for registration is 16 July 2012. For further information please open the conference’s website at
