Event: Causes of displacement and (international) responsibility
Together with the DGVN (United Nations Association of Germany) NRW, BICC hold a panel discussion on "Causes of displacement and (international) responsibility" on 21 September 2016 on its premises (in German). It was on the occasion of the Peace Days in Bonn, which took place from 20 to 24 September this year.
65.3 million people worldwide are fleeing from conflict. More than one million displaced have found refuge in the European Union since 2015; most of them in Germany. This year, displacement is the focus of the Peace Report 2016, written by the German peace research institutes. The editors call upon the politicians to take responsibility in the fight against causes of displacement and by creating a refugee policy that shows solidarity.
After an introduction by Max Mutschler, co-editor of the Peace Report, BICC, the discussants were Katja Mielke, BICC, and Thomas Weiler, DGVN. Moderator: Susanne Heinke, BICC
