How can development succeed in the context of investments in natural resources?

BICC (Bonn International Center for Conversion), Brot für die Welt and the Working Group Chad are hosting an expert talk and will be presenting their publication: "Compensation Matters. An overview on practices and strategies" on 10 March 2014 in Berlin.

The expert talk will focus on the following questions: Where does the World Bank Group position itself in the current international discussion on natural resources? How can development succeed in the context of investments in natural resources? Do the revised environmental and social standards offer new approaches to safeguarding the rights of affected societies, and if so which? Do these approaches do justice to the sensitive nature of the conflicts in the complex situations in which investment is taking place?
