National PSSM training in Khartoum, Sudan

To enhance PSSM capacity at the national level within the wider project on ‘Capacity Development and Advice on SALW Control in Africa’, BICC in partnership with the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) and the Sub-Regional Arms Control Mechanism (SARCOM) conducted a PSSM training course from 2 – 6 December 2018 in Khartoum, Sudan, for members of the Sudanese security forces.

PSSM trainers qualified through the RECSA-BICC-MSAG Train-the-Trainer Regional training process delivered theoretical and practical content on safer weapons and ammunition stockpile management at this training.

The training curriculum was based on a series of PSSM modules that have been developed by MSAG. These modules were designed to accurately align with principles related to effective weapons and ammunition management practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlined in the International Small Arms Control Standards (ISACS) and the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATGs).
