Panel discussion \ Theory and Practice of the Digital Strategy of the German Armed Forces

On 26 January 2018, the journal Wissenschaft und Frieden (W&F) and BICC organized the panel discussion “Ambivalences between attack and defence in the era of ‘cyber wars’ – Theory and practice of the digital strategy of the German Armed Forces” (in German).

The panel with prominent discussants addressed different aspects of the military engagement in cyber and information space and its effects. Discussants were:

·         Professor Dr Hans-Jörg Kreowski, University of Bremen and Chair of the Forum InformatikerInnen für Frieden und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung - FIfF,

·         Major General Michael Vetter, Deputy Inspector and Chief of Staff Kommando Cyber- und Informationsraum (CIR),

·         Professor Dr Matthew Smith, University of Bonn and Fraunhofer Institut für Kommunikation, Informationsverarbeitung und Ergonomie (FKIE Wachtberg),

·         Moderator: Professor Dr Hartwig Hummel, Member of the Board of W&F, Arbeitsgemeinschaft Friedens- und Konfliktforschung (AFK).
