In the first half of 2007, the Federal Republic of Germany not only has the presidency of the G8 but also of the European Council. One of the items on the agenda for the Presidency of the Council is to elaborate a strategy for Central Asia. Besides the improvement of the relations between the European Union and Russia, it represents an element of EU policy towards the post-Soviet region. In June, this strategy will be presented and adopted by the European Council. What does, should, and will this strategy for Central Asia look like?
