The Sahel Untold
The Sahel Untold shares life stories and personal experiences of people from the Sahel—a region often described as fragile and facing a diverse set of challenges, including climate change, poverty and the presence of extremist groups. By bringing voices from conflict-affected borderlands in the Greater Sahel directly into international policy conversations, we seek to bridge the gap between global policy and local reality.
This podcast was developed within the framework of a joint project by the African Union (AU), the United Nations Department of Peace Operations (DPO) and bicc - Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies. The project is generously funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.

Give Peace a Chance
Armament and militarisation, forced displacement and migration, extremism and radicalisation—in the new bicc podcast, hosts Fiona Wilshusen and Marius Bales get to the bottom of complex issues in the fields of foreign and security policy and Peace and Conflict Studies. They seek exchange with experts from research, politics and practice outside the academic ivory tower. The first episode of 'Give Peace a Chance: Peace and Conflict Studies in brief', published today, focuses on the current political and economic situation in Afghanistan
In each episode of the podcast, the hosts discuss a key topic with a guest and an expert from bicc. Fiona Wilshusen and Marius Bales will bring forgotten conflicts back on the agenda and engage in lively discussions on a wide range of topics. In addition, running features provide listeners with the latest news at their fingertips: The 'Conflict Compact' provides the necessary information on global and regional conflicts. In the 'Peace News of the Month', the hosts show that despite all the crises and conflicts in the world, there are also positive and encouraging developments.

Training video on DDR
In 2021, bicc developed a short YouTube training video. This video introduces the viewer to the UN approach to DDR, addressing key concepts, guiding principles as well as lessons learned from different contexts and actors engaged in these processes.
The video also engages with the viewer by setting up a number of tasks to be completed, to practice what is tought in the training video.
The video is a bit more than 1 hour long, and is well worth the watch if you are interested in learning more about DDR processes. It is also a good introduction to the longer courses that are conducted by the IDDRTG.
