Bicc Senior Researcher Dr. Oyewole Oginni will be participating in the roundtable "Peace in Pieces: Patterns and Pitfalls of Peacebuilding in a New Security (Dis)order".This roundtable examines the patterns and pitfalls of Peacebuilding in an increasingly fragile international order. As deadly coercive interventions become more commonplace and the effectiveness of binding international law diminishes, past and ongoing post-war and post-conflict experiences offer valuable insights into how intervention can be designed and implemented more effectively. The discussion will engage with pressing cases across the Middle East and North Africa, West Africa and the Sahel, Latin America, and Southeast Asia, from non-coercive tools to sanctions and economic warfare. Bringing together the perspectives of academics, policymakers, and experts, the panel will connect analysis with lived realities on the ground. Ultimately, it asks whether current approaches are building sustainable peace or leaving it in pieces.
