Federal Press Conference for the GKKE Report 2024
Today, the Joint Conference Church and Development (Gemeinsame Konferenz Kirche und Entwicklung, GKKE) presented its annual Arms Export Report for 2024, in which it analyses and evaluates German arms export policy in 2023 and 2024. The report criticises the Federal Government for its intransparent reporting on arms exports and the high number of arms exports to autocratic states like Saudi Arabia in 2024. Furthermore, the GKKE calls on the Federal Government not to authorise arms exports to Israel if there is sufficient suspicion that the arms could be used for serious violations of international humanitarian law. Military equipment such as ammunition for tanks may not be exported to Israel as long as the Israeli government does not give significantly higher priority to the safety of the civilian population in Gaza.
