Migrant Transnationalism

Book Conversation

What is the value of a transnational lens to understand the world at present? Join this webinar on 28 October (14–15 CET) for a conversation on the IMISCOE Short Reader on Migrant Transnationalism.

Part of IMISCOE's Short Reader series, this book on ‘Migrant Transnationalism’ sets out to provide a compelling introduction to research on migrant transnationalism. In this book conversation webinar, the authors - Özge Bilgili and Marta Bivand Erdal - will present the book, and their motivations for writing it. Three migration scholars, Mary Setrana, Koen Leurs and Benjamin Etzold, will then offer their reflections on the book and the perspectives it offers. This will include comments on its potential and limitations as a source for researchers, students, and policymakers, in particular in showing why looking at the world through a transnational lens adds value for anyone interested in migration and social change.

Program

  • Introduction to the book: Özge Bilgili & Marta Bivand Erdal
  • Comments by Mary Setrana (Centre for Migration Studies, University of Ghana), Koen Leurs (Dempartment of Media and Culture Studies, Utrecht University) and Benjamin Etzold (Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies)
