RECSA Regional Action Plan Validation Workshop on Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) in the Context of Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR)
On 18 November 2024 bicc together with the UN Department of Peace Operations (UNDPO) supported the Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) in jointly facilitating the Validation Workshop of the Regional Action Plan on Weapons and Ammunition Management (WAM) in DDR contexts in Nairobi, Kenya. The validation workshop concluded a year-long consultative process representing a milestone-achievement organised by RECSA in partnership with bicc including RECSA’s 15 member States and key international partners, including the African Union, the UN Department of Peace Operations through its DDR Section, the Small Arms Survey, the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) and others. The initiative was generously funded through division OR-10 of the German Federal Foreign Office.
