This Occasional Paper focuses on the analysis of individual measures fostering democratic peace consolidation in Sierra Leone. Following a theoretical introduction, the political history of Sierra Leone is described briefly. The main part consists of the presentation and evaluation of the international engagement in Sierra Leone. A final balance, which refers back to the theory and concept of democratic peace consolidation, is drawn and lessons learned from the example of Sierra Leone for the future of democratic peacebuilding are presented.
