UDUS-bicc Knowledge Exchange: Strategic Transfer of Peace & Security Research

The primary mechanism of this half-day workshop is a peer-to-peer academic exchange on how to best translate research insights into actionable, evidence-based policy actions. This event serves as an interactive (hybrid) knowledge-sharing platform to discuss how to effectively enhance the policy relevance of academic research.

Discussions are structured to benefit significantly from the distinct institutional experiences of both organisations. Bicc’s experience in bringing lessons learned from interdisciplinary research and international and national policy advisory roles, involvement with global, regional, national and local stakeholders and structured dissemination tracks in peace and security frameworks. UDUS’s bringing deep contextual expertise and knowledge, localised dissemination strategies, and established pathways for policy transfer within the Nigerian and regional West African governance structures.

A cross-cutting objective of the activity is to enhance networking and institutional relationship-building between bicc and UDUS.

The knowledge exchange will be implemented in a hybrid fashion, back-to-back with a research visit of bicc researchers to Northwest Nigeria. It will be held at UDUS facilities with bicc staff from Germany joining the conversation virtually. The format will encourage open and action-oriented discussions focusing on the respective experiences of UDUS and bicc.
